Underpromise 350Time management is a huge problem for many people who have ADHD.

In a single day we can hyperfocus on something that grabs our attention, procrastinate when we have a task to do that we deem to be boring, or we are overwhelmed by several different tasks that we don’t know which to prioritise.

Desperate to please, we make totally unrealistic promises to deliver without knowing the scope or thinking about other appointments or projects already in the pipeline.

The deadline looms and we panic. Who can we blame for the delay? Loadshedding, transport problems, other suppliers messing up, the weather …

The greater our panic the more incompetent we become. Our brains freeze and we become paralysed with fear and exhausted because we are constantly trying to play catchup.

We lose the respect of our customers and our expected income from the project when they fire us for non-performance.

We don't learn and structure our days like non-ADHD or even other ADHD folk. Each of us is different. Some of us prefer digitally planning their time and others prefer pen and paper. Diaries suit some people and different sized notebooks suit others. Some of us have children or other dependents whose needs also to be taken into account.

Setting alarms using a manual timer or digitally on your Smart Watch or Phone or Computer are great as long as your sound is on, and you carry the physical timer with you.

Many ADDers are self employed because we don't fit the corporate structure. We believe we have to do everything ourselves. We say we can't afford a bookkeeper. We avoid all admin like the plague until we get a rude letter from SARS charging you penalties and interest. On my Moneyadders site read why I believe a bookkeeper should be your first hire.

If you are a Mom running your own business, as much as you love your children, they frustrate and exhaust you. It is time to swallow your pride and hire an au pair or housekeeper. For too many years women have had to do it all perfectly.

Learning to manage your time is a process and not something you will achieve overnight. I started my Coaching Journey with Dave in 2006. When I got to the Time Management Module I used specially designed time sheets divided into 15 minute slots. I diligently filled them in for a couple of weeks and the results were eye opening. What I planned to do, what I actually did and the time taken to complete the tasks were very different from what I had assumed.

Are you a morning or a night person? In the mornings I am a whirlwind as Dave calls me. I can achieve 6hrs work in 3hrs. But I need an afternoon nap even if it is only 30 mins. I also need regular breaks. I no longer pretend to be functional when my brain demands a nap.

My Time Management Module is only one component of my Coaching for Women Programme

The older we are the more we need to reflect on our beliefs and behaviours and decide how we want to live the rest of our lives.

Once you are a client of mine, I will be available to listen to your rants, share your successes and mentor you in your new life for as long as you need the support.

To help you decide if this program is right for you, complete this 5-minute assessment and on receipt, I will be in touch to schedule a free Whatsapp call to answer your questions.
